Alternating Current Press
Running a press is an expensive labor of love. We don’t even make enough to qualify for nonprofit status. But we continue printing great books, purchasing bookfair tables, paying our authors, reading hundreds of submissions on volunteer hours, and showing up for the literary community.
Donations made through this portal go specifically to press activities, including the costs of printing supplies, envelopes, software, web hosting, paying authors, shipping, bookfairs, entrance fees, marketing materials, review copies, staff stipends, internships, and more.

Wardenclyffe Project
One of the missions of Alternating Current Press is to keep alive the pre-digital words of authors from the turn of the new millennium, the post-Beat and avant-garde poets of the 1970s through early 2000s who may have had their heydays before the Internet was a widespread thing. We are working to achieve these archival works through two series:
The Violet Ray series is an archival preservation collection of chapbooks and limited-edition publications from the first twenty years (1993 to 2013) of pre-digital operation at ACP. The Wardenclyffe Series is a collection of books preserving the words of Beat and post-Beat poets whose work first saw publication prior to the new millennium and the digital age, but whose works were not previously published at ACP.
The Wardenclyffe series also funds our Wardenclyffe Scholarship for Young Poets. The inaugural scholarship will be at least $1,000 + a published chapbook, to be paid to a junior or senior high schooler, preferably from an underrepresented background.
$25+: A PDF of the chapbook by the 2022 winner.
$50+: Your name/company printed on the press release of the 2022 winner + a PDF of the 2022 winner.
$100+: Your name/logo printed on the press release of the 2022 winner + on the 2022 award page + on the website book page + 1 print copy of the chapbook by the 2022 winner.
$500+: All above prizes + 10 print copies of the chapbook by the 2022 winner + lifetime access to our full digital catalog portal.
$1,000+: All above prizes + logo/name or given in-honor/memory-of on a standalone back page of the 2022 printed chapbook + prominently on the back cover of the 2022 printed chapbook + on the certificate and letter given to the 2022 winner.

ACP Microgrants
Alternating Current runs the Microgrants for Marginalized Voices organization, which enables individuals, small groups, presses, small businesses, and corporations to provide small annual microgrants for creative art endeavors by underrepresented, underprivileged, or marginalized voices.
In addition to curating all the microgrants, maintaining web hosting, and providing readers for those grants that don’t provide their own readers, we also fund three microgrants of our own, The Oblaye Award for Great Plains and Midwestern Native American writers, the Still I Rise Grant for Black or African American women/women-identified writers, and the Unsilenced Grant for Muslim American women/women-identified writers.
To be clear: Donations here help us fund our ACP microgrants and overall program needs. Donations here do not fund other grants or sign you up to fund a grant. Please visit the website to participate in the program.
$25+: A PDF of Remapping Wonderland: Classic Fairytales Retold by People of Color.
$50+: Above prize + your name/company printed on the 2021 ACP grant award page with your choice of category.
$100+: All above prizes + 1 print copy of Remapping Wonderland + your name/logo or in-memory/honor-of printed on the 2021 ACP award certificate and letter for the recipient in the category of your choice.
